Over the years we have known that our Half Marathon course was long, meaning over 13.1 miles and we have now confirmed that our course is long and by as much as .8 miles.
In order to provide a accurate or close to accurate Half Marathon course we have change the last mile to shave off the extra length. Now runners will pass the 12 mile mark, at the corner of Golf Course Road and Cattlepoint Road. Then continue towards town, turning on Argyle and follow Argyle up the hill to the finish line at the our fair grounds. I will have a new map posted later in this week. Please email if you have questions: clark@runninginthesanjuans.com Monday, April 21

We will also have day of race registration and packet pick-up at the starting area, located at the County Fair Grounds located on Argyle Street. We could not put on these two events without the help of our volunteers. Either working an aid station or passing our medals at the finishing line, volunteers provide a wonderful service.
If you are not planning on running this year, or have a friend or family member participating and would like to help out, please let us know! We will need your help. For more information please email Jane at jhutchison@rockisland.com Thursday, February 7

![]() Seven years ago, when we were planning our very first race, Verne Howard, owner of Kings Market, was contacted about being a sponsor of the event. He like the concept of the race with the positive impacts to both the runners that came here and to the community as a whole. As a result he agreed to be a sponsor at the highest level: the Presenting Sponsor. Were it not for Kings help and support these past five years this marathon and half-marathon would not have happened and our thanks go out to all the folks who work there. Located in the heart of Friday Harbor, Kings is a great place to pick-up snacks and lunch items. The deli makes a nice selection of salads and sandwiches. Upstairs in Kings Variety you will find a nice selection of marine products, outdoor wear and shoes. A great place to shop for that take home gift. Also, down in Joe Friday’s Shirt Co. you will find a great selection of souvenir T-shirts to remind your kids at home how much you missed them. Wednesday, January 9
